Dixie H. Diggs

Class of 1931 / Inducted 1977 / Football

Dixie H. Diggs was a native of Hampton, Virginia. A 1977 Emory & Henry Sports Hall of Fame inductee, he was a versatile athlete who played collegiate football, baseball, basketball, and track. Diggs served as captain of the football team during his years at the college and was inducted based on his contributions on the gridiron.

Diggs went on to found and direct the Virginia Automotive Wholesalers Association. He also was the founder and president of Dixie Diggs Auto Parts. He was a civic leader, serving on the Hampton School Board, the Salvation Army Advisory Board, the Hampton Retail Merchants Association, and the Lions Club. In addition, he acted as zone chairman and deputy district governor.

Dixie H. Diggs passed away on January 21, 1994 at the age of 83.
