Harry H. Yost

Class of 1962 / Inducted 1988 / Football

Harry H. Yost, a 1962 Emory & Henry graduate, was a four-year letterwinner as a fullback for the Wasps football team. He was a team tri-captain and received the All-Big Eight Sportsmanship Award. Yost was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame in 1988 in recognition of his achievements.

In 1959, Yost was selected to the Virginia All-State Little Eight, Knoxville News Sentinel Small College All-Area, and All-Smoky Mountain Conference teams – not to mention an honorable mention for the Associated Press Little All-America team. The following season he won the All-Little Eight Sportsmanship Award, given by the Bedford Junior Chamber of Commerce and was an All-Little Eight honorable mention. Yost’s senior year, he was a captain of the football squad and earned Knoxville News Sentinel All-Area honors.

Yost went on to a career as a hospital supplies and equipment sales representative. His work for Baxter Healthcare Corporation earned him Mid-Atlantic Sales Representative of the Year and a National Business Excellence Award.
