J. Michael “Mike” Griffith, a member of Emory & Henry’s class of 1970, was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame in 1984 in recognition of his football career.

Griffith was a four-year letterman at offensive tackle in football. During three of those years, the Wasps lost a total of only six games, culminating with a 9-1 season in 1968. He was a candidate for Little All-American in his senior year and a member of several All-State Teams in the course of his career.

Griffith worked for Nationwide Insurance, where he received many awards as a salesman and sales manager, until he retired.
