Jason Grooms

Class of 1993 / Inducted 2013 / Football

Jason Grooms, a 1993 graduate of Emory & Henry, was recognized for his accomplishments on the Wasps football team with an induction into the Sports Hall of Fame in 2013.

During Grooms’ four years as a Wasp, the team accumulated a 28-12 record. His last season, the Wasps were 8-2 and the defense was nationally ranked in pass defense and scoring defense.  Grooms personally accounted for 102 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries, and eight quarterback sacks that season on his way to becoming a Kodak/American Football Coaches Association First Team All-American. Grooms was also voted Touchdown Club of Richmond’s Defensive Player of the year, named to Virginia Sports Information Director’s first team All-State, and twice named to the ODAC All-Conference team.

Since graduating from Emory & Henry, Grooms is self-employed as the owner of Drive Safe Now and Five Rivers Adventures. He continued to pursue his love of outdoors as president of the Pigeon River Rafting Association and a member of Keep Cocke County Beautiful.
