Robert A. Michael

Class of 1942 / Inducted 1982 / Men's Basketball

Robert A. Michael was a two-time captain of the Emory & Henry men’s basketball team and was among the top two scorers for the Wasps all four years of his career, from 1938-42. He was a standout on the basketball team, finishing his senior season as the fourth leading scorer in the state across all divisions. Michael was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame in recognition of his basketball career at the college in 1982.

A social science major, Michael went on to earn a Master’s of the Arts in Government from Louisiana State University in 1943. Michael joined the U.S. Navy and later pursued a career as a real estate agent.

Robert Michael died on June 22, 1996 in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
