W. Frank Eaton

Class of 1939 / Inducted 1982 / Football

Wiley Frank Eaton, Jr., known as Frank, was a 1939 graduate of Emory & Henry College who was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame in 1982 on the basis of his achievements in football during his college days.

Eaton played four years for the Emory & Henry Wasps, serving as team captain his senior year. He was also a varsity baseball player for three years. After graduating he retained his interest in sports, officiating football games for 29 years.

After graduating, he served his country during World War II with the 17th Field Artillery Observation Battalion in Normandy and in the advance through the Rhineland. Subsequently, he was employed in the trucking industry for several decades and was a leader in establishing industry-wide maintenance standards and principles.

Frank Eaton passed away on March 30, 2001.
