Jackie Greene-Dalton

Class of 1996 / Inducted 2019 / Women's Basketball

When you look at the Emory & Henry women’s basketball record book, the name Jackie Green-Dalton can be found in numerous places.

Jackie was a dominant scorer for the Wasps from 1992-96. She is one of only a handful of women’s basketball players to belong to the 1000-point club, collecting 1232 points in her four years at E&H.

She sits at number two all-time for points in a game, pouring in 34 points against Roanoke during her senior season. That same season, she scored 418 points… good enough for 6th all-time.

In terms of field goals made, Jackie sits number two with 516. She holds two of the top four-seasons of all-time in field goals made… with her best season taking place in 1996, producing 176 total. For her career, she shot 47% from the field.

Jackie was also a force on the boards, collecting 810 rebounds over her career – good enough for 3rd all time. For a single season, she has the fourth and fifth-best season in program history with 256 and 249 rebounds respectively during her sophomore and junior seasons. Over her four years, Jackie averaged nearly eight rebounds a game.

She earned multiple all-conference honors, including Honorable Mention in 1993-94, second-team honors in 1994-95, and 1st team honors in 1995-96. From 1993-1995 she was chosen for the all-tournament team at the Ferrum Tip-Off Tournament.

Jackie currently resides in Martinsville, Virginia, where she works for the Henry County Public School System, teaching physical education. Additionally, she has served many roles within the athletic department at Magna Vista High School, including Head Girls JV volleyball coach, Head Girls Basketball Coach, and Head Girls Varsity Track Coach.

During that time, she has coached numerous all-state athletes and region champions.

Jackie also served as Head Girls Basketball Coach at Grayson County High School and JV Basketball Coach and Head Varsity Track Coach at North Surry High School. Jackie got her coaching start working for Carroll County High School, where she served as Varsity Track Coach, Head JV Girls Basketball Coach, and Head JV Volleyball Coach Carroll Co High School in the late ’90s.

Outside of the great work she has done in the school system, Jackie is very involved with AME Methodist Church. Jackie is a certified personal trainer & fitness nutrition specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine – and it’s not uncommon for her to do health and fitness workshops for various organizations when requested.
