Alexander P. Levicki

Alexander P. Levicki was a native of Philippi, West Virginia. The Emory & Henry Sports Hall of Fame inductee played both football and baseball, but his talent showed most on the basketball court.

Levicki served during World War II and took on the position of principal at Rich Valley High School after his return. He received his master’s degree at Columbia University Teachers College in 1951. Levicki first became a superintendent at Norton City Schools while serving as principal of both high and elementary schools. He later accepted a position as superintendent in Russell County Schools in 1965, then served as Wythe County Superintendent of Schools during the later half of his life.

Dedicated to a variety activities, Levicki headed the Saltville Kiwanis Club, was secretary of the Norton Kiwanis Club, and served on the board of directors of the Wise County Library Association and the Wise County Manpower Training Program. In addition, he was also active in his community as a vestryman in the Episcopal Church and taught Sunday School for young men.

Alexander P. Levicki passed away at the age of 56.
