Jeff Herron

Jeff Herron was a four-year letter winner, and starter, for the Emory & Henry College football program and was named a team captain during the 1981 season where he garnered 2nd Team All ODAC honors. Herron utilized the football knowledge that he obtained from E&H to establish himself as one of the best high school football coaches in the history of the state of Georgia.

Herron has coached at several different stops in the high school ranks throughout the state of Georgia. He has posted an overall record of 312-54 for a winning percentage of 85.3% and is the only coach in Georgia state history to win a state championship at three different schools. That record is second best in Georgia History and 34th best in National High School History.

Jeff has been named Region or Area Coach of the Year 25 times and state coach of the year 9 times.  In 2009 he was NFL Atlanta Falcon High School Coach of the Year. He has taken teams to 10 Final Four Games, 19 Region Championships, and 8 Sub-Region Championships. Thirty-two of his assistant coaches have gone one to be head coaches and his 2016 Grayson High School team finished with a record of 14-1 en route to winning the 7A State Championship and the Public-School National Championship. Herron also spent time as an assistant coach at Tennessee Tech in 2019 and 2020 before returning to the high school coaching ranks. 

He is currently head coach at Camden County High School in his second stint after coaching there from 2000-2012, during which time Camden had a record of 154-18, 3 State Championships, 13 playoff appearances, 4 Final four appearances, 12 straight region championships, State Record 58 game regular season winning streak, and a 28 game overall winning streak. His team was ranked in USA Today top 25 six of his last eight years there, and the team played on ESPN the last 4 seasons. The program was selected as program of the decade in Georgia for the 2000-2010 decade.
