Caleb Jennings ‘11 was a four-year letter winner as a running back and return specialist for the Wasps’ football team. Jennings was a standout player for E&H, writing his name all over the record books and establishing himself as one of the best rushers and returners in Emory & Henry history.

Jennings stands third all-time in career rushing attempts (637), fifth in attempts in a season (223), fourth in attempts a game (39), third in career rushing yards (3705) and fourth in rushing yards in a season (1371, 2009). He is also fourth in career rushing touchdowns (33) and third in rushing touchdowns in a season (14, 2009).

Jennings also shone in the return game as he is second in career kickoff return average (26.2), second in career punt returns (80), second in punt returns in a season (34) and is first in program history with 1111 career punt return yards and 498 punt return yards in a season (2008).

His outstanding performances on the field and accumulation of yards led to him being the all-time leader in career all-purpose yards (6142), all-purpose yards in a season (2161, 2008) and all-purpose yards in a game (357, 2008 vs Catholic).

Jennings was named an All-American as a running back for the 2009 season, as well as being selected as an All-American Honorable Mention as a return specialist for the 2008 season. He was also named to the All-ODAC First Team as a running back for the 2008, 2009 and 2010 seasons, being selected as the ODAC Offensive Player of the Year for his efforts during 2009. Jennings’ outstanding play during the 2009 campaign resulted in him winning the Lanier Award, which is awarded to the top football player at the Division II, III or NAIA level in the Commonwealth of Virginia. His extraordinary 45-yard touchdown run against Methodist during the 2010 season was recognized nationally as the #3 play of the week on ESPN’s SportsNation and was also selected as the Division III Play of the Week by d3football.com.
