Thomas Davidson

Thomas Crockett Davidson is a native of Bluefield, West Virginia. The 1990 Emory & Henry Sports Hall of Fame inductee was a standout athlete on the basketball court as well as on the football field.

In football, Davidon made the All-Little Eight Second Team as a senior. On the basketball court, he led the team in scoring during the 1960 and 1961 seasons. He earned All-Conference and Knoxville News Sentinel All-Area honors.

During his years at Emory & Henry, Davidson was involved outside athletics as well. He participated in student legislature, was president of Sigma Iota and served as class president. He was also selected to Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities. After graduation, Davidson received his Masters degree from the University of Tennessee in 1962.

Davidson coached high school baseball at Winter Haven High School in Winter Haven, Florida. He acquired two state championships in baseball and the Florida High School Coaches Association voted him Coach of the Year in 1968. Davidson went on to coach at Francis Marion University for 23 years, where he served as assistant dean of students. He was the assistant baseball coach since the program’s inception and served as the assistant men’s basketball coach for a few years before coaching men’s soccer.

Thomas Crockett Davidson passed away on March 16, 1996.
