Leon Hill

Leon A. “Neon Leon” Hill played basketball at Emory & Henry from 1987-1991, during which time the Wasps made three trips to the NCAA Tournament and compiled an overall record of 92-24.

Hill’s list of athletics honors and recognitions is extensive. In 1990, he was named ODAC Player of the Year. He earned All-America honors twice, making second team All-America in 1990 and honorable mention in 1991. He earned First Team All-ODAC honors three times and received numerous other All-Region and All-State nods.

His senior year, Hill was the Porterfield Award recipient, an award which is given to the Outstanding Male Athlete at Emory & Henry who displays excellence in leadership and character. Hill averaged 18.6 points per game and 4.9 rebounds per game in his career at E&H. He averaged 47% on three-pointers, 72% on free throws, and 53% on field goals. He left college ranked second on the E&H all-time scoring list with 2,153, and held the record for career steals, with 241, along with several other school records.

He is very active in his community and has volunteered for the Red Cross, United Way, Blue Ridge Health Center Board, and the Four Seasons Art Council. In 1993 he was named Boys and Girls Club Executive Director of the Year.
