Major Warner

Major “Bob” Warner was a four-year starter on the Emory & Henry basketball team from 1988-91. During all four of those years, the team had more than 20 wins and had a win percentage of over 79%. Warner scored 1,261 career points during that time, averaging over 12 points a game for his career. He was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame in 2007.

The team made its first NCAA postseason appearance, advancing to the Sweet Sixteen, in 1988 when Warner was a freshman. His sophomore year, Warner averaged 16.9 points per game, 6.3 rebounds per game, and was named to the All-ODAC Second Team. The Wasps advanced to the NCAA playoffs both his junior and senior years. In his final season, the Wasps had a 25-5 record and were ODAC regular season champions.

Warner earned a Master of Arts degree from Tennessee Tech and did postgraduate work at the University of Virginia in Administration and Educational Leadership. He has made his career in education, serving as a principal in Fauquier County, Virginia. Devoted to his alma mater, Warner has also served on the Emory & Henry Board of Trustees.
