Stuart B. Farmer
Stuart Farmer, a 1932 graduate of Emory & Henry College, was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame in the charter year, 1972, for his accomplishments on the football team.
As a halfback, Farmer was selected as an All-State player and an All-Smoky Mountain Conference player after the 1928 season. Farmer was the captain of that squad that went undefeated. He was also a key player for an additional undefeated Wasps team.
Farmer served in the United States Army infantry division during World War II. When he returned, he pursued a Master’s of Physical Education from Columbia University. He went on to become a teacher, coach, and athletic director at Johnson City High School.
