Charles Foster
Charles Foster of Glade Spring, Virginia, was inducted as a charter member of the Sports Hall of Fame. Despite only having one arm, Foster spent over 45 years in service to Emory & Henry athletics, including 42 years as custodian of Martin-Brock Gymnasium.
As an expression of sincere gratitude, members of all former athletic teams and other interested students honored him on November 10, 1962 during halftime festivities during the Concord football game. Charlie and his wife received a certificate of appreciation and cash and bonds for his untiring effort dedicated to E&H athletics. The game was designated Charlie Foster Day.
