Harrell S. Dyer

Class of 1915 / Inducted 1972 - Charter Member / Baseball

Harrell Dyer, native of Garrett Park, Maryland and a 1915 graduate of Emory & Henry, was a talented lefthander on the Wasps’ baseball team. Dyer turned down a contract in professional baseball to become a minister, and later served in the United States Navy until his retirement at 1945 with the rank of captain.

Dyer passed away in 1962, prior to his induction as a charter member of the Emory & Henry Sports Hall of Fame.
