Jonathan Lakey
Jon Lakey is described by one of his fellow players as “A great player and teammate who played an integral part in the team’s success.”
And success is definitely the word you’d use to describe the teams Jon played on. In 1986 and 1988 he and his teammates were ODAC Champions. In 1987, the team won the NCAA Division III South Region Championship.
Jon was a wide receiver for the Wasps football team. He was a three-year starter who made First Team All-ODAC honors in 1988. At the time of his graduation he had four stats that were in the top five all-time records for Emory & Henry. He caught 101 career passes for 1493 yards and 16 touchdowns, averaging 14.7 yards per reception.
He continued to succeed and excel after college. Jon graduated with a J.D. degree from the University of Memphis Law School, where he was a member of the Law Review and Chief Justice of the Moot Court. He is now a partner in a Memphis law firm, and an adjunct professor at the University of Memphis School of Law, and He also gives back to his community by coaching football, basketball, and baseball at Grace St. Luke’s Episcopal School.
