R. Claude Graham
R. Claude Graham, 1920 graduate of Emory & Henry College, was a well-rounded athlete. He lettered in baseball, basketball, and football and was inducted into the Emory & Henry Sports Hall of Fame in 1979 in recognition of his achievements as a baseball player.
Graham received a master’s degree from the University of Virginia and had a distinguished career as an administrator in several school districts. He also served as director of research and planning, director of instruction, and as assistant superintendent for the Virginia Department of Education. In 1958, Graham received an honorary Doctor of Law degree from Emory & Henry College. He retired in 1966 to live and work on his farm near Dryden, Virginia.
A native of Flatwoods, Virginia, R. Claude Graham was born on August 30, 1898 and died on October 29, 1992 at the age of 94.
